Is my current status different than my status at last entry?

You may or may not have the same immigration status as when you entered the U.S. Your immigration status, also called visa category, describes the basis that you were admitted into the United States. You can look at your visa (probably inside your passport) to find the visa category that provided you admission to the U.S.

However, if you changed your status, your visa category may be different. In this case you can find your current status on your I-797, Notice of Action.
